Irish businesses now have access to Sungard AS’ award-winning* portfolio of managed recovery services
Sungard Availability Services ® (Sungard AS), a leading provider of information availability through managed IT, cloud and recovery services, today announced that it has bolstered the range of technology and workplace continuity solutions available to the Irish market.
This expansion will enable more customers and businesses in Ireland to access such award-winning solutions as Disaster Recovery as a Service, as well as Data Protection, Infrastructure and Application Recovery and enhanced Workplace Recovery delivering alternative office space for staff displaced by an outage. These all align against Sungard AS’ proven formula of ‘Protect my data; Recover my environment; and Manage my recovery’ which help customers to optimise recovery strategies against their desired business outcomes.
To address the need for an organisation’s people to remain productive in the wake of office loss or inaccessibility, the expansion will also see Sungard AS’ existing Workplace Recovery capability grow to provide 80 end-user positions on a shared basis, with additional space available for those customers who want their own dedicated solution. Capacity for a further 100 shared positions is also available to meet additional market demand.
This investment represents Sungard AS’ commitment to Ireland, which has a reputation as the ‘gateway to Europe’ for many leading-edge technology and forward-thinking businesses. The news continues the momentum of the past two years which saw an investment into a Tier-III data centre at Profile Park, the appointment of Carmel Owens as General Manager for Ireland, and the expansion of Sungard AS’ successful Channel Program into the EMEA region.
With Brexit and the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation introducing uncertainty as well as opportunity to businesses in the region, these new solutions combine with pre-existing recovery, cloud and hosting services to enable companies in Ireland to create resilient, robust environments to protect, grow and nurture their businesses.
Carmel Owens, General Manager, Sungard Availability Services Ireland, commented: “From IT failures, cyber attacks, strikes and environmental failures, there’s a huge demand in the Irish market for IT as well as people recovery services. Disaster recovery is becoming increasingly important as businesses face evolving disruptions alongside a changing regulatory landscape.
Today’s aggressively competitive world means businesses need to be operating with a ‘mentality to build in resilience and recovery strategies should they experience disruption. With more than 40 years’ experience helping ensure organisations keep their mission critical people, processes and technologies available no matter what, Sungard AS is well placed to help Irish businesses secure their availability, despite the myriad risks and challenges they face. We’re excited to speak to customers about our enhanced portfolio and look forward to working with them to make the most of these new capabilities.”
