Sparrho, the leading company for the integration of artificial intelligence in scientific research and communication, today announced the appointment of Basil Moftah, MBA, as chairman of its board of directors.
Basil attained his MBA from the prestigious Harvard Business School and will bring two decades of experience as a senior executive working for Thomson Reuters Intellectual Property and Science department, managing over $1 billion in revenue and almost 4000 employees globally to deliver the latest scientific developments and support services for high-level clients including governments, academic institutions and leading businesses.
Since leaving Thomson Reuters in 2015, Basil has championed new ventures, such as the digital patent storage platform PatSnap, and the intelligent product builder TARA.AI. He has also been an investor in Sparrho since 2016, and so is perfectly placed to spur on the rapid expansion of the company, utilising his intimate knowledge of cutting-edge developments in the scientific and tech sectors.
While at Thomson Reuters, Basil chaired and supported various diversity and inclusion programs, including a role as Corporate Sponsor of Thomson Reuters Leadership Program for Women “ a promising sign in an industry vastly underrepresented by women. He has also worked across all emerging markets, and this international outlook will set Sparrho in good stead to expand their operations throughout Asia.
