United States/WA: The U.S. RFID Tags market was valued for US$ 1,011.3 Mn in 2019 is expected to exhibit a CAGR of 9.0% during the forecast period

    Report Pages:[130 Pages]

The term RFID is short for radio frequency identification, and these tags are simply magnetic plates attached to things like ID badges, luggage, keys, and much more. RFID tags are a simple way of identifying things and have become increasingly popular for both business and personal use. These tags are very small (like the size of a coin), are very durable, and are very cheap, compared to paper or plastic tags. In the past, tags were used in the airline industry, where they were used to keep track of flight passengers, but now there is a wide range of applications in other industries.

A RFID tag typically uses electromagnetic radiation to identify and track tags, which are then attached to specific objects. An RFID tag usually has a microchip that contains the data on it. The microchip contains information about the tag, such as the tag number, identification code, and so forth. The tag can also contain an electronic signature, which tells the reader about the tag in some way.

    Market Dynamics

Development and launch of new products is expected to propel growth of the U.S. RFID tags market. For instance, in November 2020, XO2Tech, a technology startup based in Spain and the U.S., developed a wireless system employing RFID and sensors to help manage the activities and conditions of the elderly or other individuals as they interact with items in their home or care facility.

High cost of the system is expected to hinder growth of the U.S. RFID tags market. The cost of an RFID tag can range from four cents per tag to upwards of US$ 50.00 per tag depending on the capabilities. The RFID tag readers can range from US$ 1,000.00 to US$ 3,000.00 per reader.

Among end users, the healthcare sector is expected to witness significant growth in the U.S. RFID tags market, owing to increasing RFID application. For instance, in August 2020, Fresenius Kabi introduced plans to add a portfolio of medicines with RFID embedded into their labels. Moreover, medication shortages in pharmacies is also expected to boost demand for RFID tags. For instance, according to an annual survey published in August 2020 by Kit Check, around 60% of pharmacy staff reported dealing with up to 20 medication shortages at a time. More than 72 of respondents reported spending up to 15 staff hours to reconcile each medication shortage.
