Fog computing is revolutionizing tech by processing data locally, reducing cloud reliance, and enhancing IoT efficiency.
United States/WA: Fog Computing Market Will Boom In Near Future
Report Pages:[130 Pages]
The Competitive Area of the Fog Computing Market is Defined by Key Players Like:-Microsoft Corporation, ARM Holdings PLC, Cisco Systems, GE Digital, Intel Corporation, Schneider Electric Software LLC, and Fujitsu Ltd.
Fog computing, also called Edge Computing, is intended for distributed computing where numerous “peripheral” devices connect to a cloud. The term fog computing, originated by Cisco, refers to an alternative to cloud computing. This approach seizes upon the dual problem of the proliferation of computing devices and the opportunity presented by the data those devices generate by locating certain resources and transactions at the edge of a network. Many of these devices will generate voluminous raw data, and rather than forward all this data to cloud-based servers to be processed, the idea behind fog computing is to do as much processing as possible using computing units co-located with the data-generating devices, so that processed rather than raw data is forwarded, and bandwidth requirements are reduced. An additional benefit is that the processed data is most likely to be needed by the same devices that generated the data so that by processing locally rather than remotely, the latency between input and response is minimized. This idea is not entirely new: in non-cloud-computing scenarios, special-purpose hardware has long been used to reduce latency and reduce the burden on a CPU.
A fog computing framework can have a variety of components and functions depending on its application. It could include computing gateways that accept data from data sources or diverse collection endpoints such as routers and switches connecting assets within a network. The cloud is getting cluttered due to the enormous number of devices connecting to the internet. Since cloud computing is not viable in some cases, it has become necessary to use fog computing for IoT devices. It can handle the enormous data generated by these devices.
