Resilient Signal and Timing Software Protects SBI Japannext
Orolia today announced that SBI Japannext, a leading proprietary trading system in Japan, has selected its SecureSync® time and frequency reference system along with STL satellite signal backup service to help protect sensitive financial trading and service systems.
SecureSync combines Orolia’s precision master clock technology and secure, network-centric approach with a modular hardware design to deliver a powerful time and frequency reference system at the lowest cost of ownership. It provides extremely accurate network time synchronization through multiple references, tamper-proof management and extensive logging capability.
Satellite Time and Location Service (STL) provides an alternate satellite signal source from the Iridium constellation to provide backup to GPS/GNSS when signals are denied or unavailable. This technology combination delivers an unprecedented level of resilience to the financial services industry.
“At SBI Japannext, the integrity of our financial transactions is critical to our success,” said Chuck Chon, CEO of SBI Japannext. “Orolia’s solutions support our strategy to deliver a high-performance electronic trading system for our clients. Installation was simple, and the system worked seamlessly right out of the box.”
GPS/GNSS signals play a key role in the operation of financial systems infrastructure, but their lack of resiliency leaves them vulnerable to interference. Since the Iridium constellation orbits at a lower altitude than other constellations, its signals are approximately 1,000 times stronger, providing a unique solution to augment GNSS for critical applications like financial trading.
