MORGAN LEWIS PROMOTES TWO LAWYERS WITH LATIN AMERICA FOCUS TO PARTNERSHIP

Humberto Padilla Gonzalez and Felipe Alice Broaden Firm’s Services for Clients with Interests in Region

Morgan Lewis today promoted corporate transactional lawyers Humberto Padilla Gonzalez and Felipe Alice to partner, broadening the services the firm provides to clients with interests in Latin America. Both lawyers are resident in the firm’s Houston office.

“The promotions of these valued members of our Latin America team underscore the importance we place on serving clients in this vital region,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. “Humberto and Felipe are ideally situated to help us with this task. These two well-respected lawyers practice across multiple jurisdictions in Latin America and their work reflects the extraordinary diversity of assistance we provide.”

The new partners are part of Morgan Lewis’s Latin America group, which focuses on in-country transactions in Mexico and Central and South America, as well as cross-border deals involving the United

States, Europe, and Asia. Furthermore, in addition to being admitted to practice in the United States, Mr. Padilla, who has been with the firm since 2008, is licensed in Mexico. Mr. Alice, a Morgan Lewis lawyer since 2011, is licensed in Brazil and qualified as a solicitor under English law.

The Latin America team—including lawyers from Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, and Washington, DC—serves clients in nearly every country in the region. The team works in areas such as

mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance, project development, and financial restructuring. They assist clients across a wide range of industries, and are especially active in the energy, banking, and telecommunications sectors.

Mr. Padilla represents clients in complex financial, cross-border and US M&A transactions, joint ventures, private equity fund investments, and internal compliance investigations under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, as well as data privacy issues throughout Latin America.

Mr. Alice, while primarily focused on energy transactions and infrastructure projects, also represents diverse clients on a wide variety of matters involving Brazil and Latin America. These include M&A, compliance, complex contracts, corporate restructurings, and project finance.

Both lawyers also work with a global workforce team providing clients with integrated cross-border counseling and strategic planning on issues related to labor, employment, benefits, and immigration.
