eBay is a popular online selling portal, where you can sell anything online[i]. You can sell products for a fixed price or can even put it on auction and sell it to the highest bidder. You can sell new products or used products. Mobile phones, TV, books, toys, fitness products, health products, computers, cars, motorcycles, and passenger vehicles – you name the product, and you can sell it on eBay.

If you have products that you can sell, then you can sell them on eBay and make money easily. So, how do you go about selling products on eBay? Read on to understand.

    The First step

Obviously, the first thing to do is to have an account on eBay. But if you have decided to sell on eBay, it means you probably already have used eBay before and bought something. If not, do that first to get an idea of how the site works. If you have a plan of selling in a big way, you can sign up a for a business account. You can also sign up for a PayPal account for easy payment processing.

    Sell some test items

Before you start selling seriously, you can first sell a couple of test products, to get a feel of the whole thing. Use the sell option and upload your product details. Make sure you provide all the details asked for. When you find a buyer, send him an invoice. Pack the product and ship it to his address. Make sure you do it on time without any delay. Once the product is delivered, call the customer (if possible), or mail and request for a good feedback. You need excellent feedback for your first few sales. Please note that most people decide on whether to buy or not by seeing the feedback rating.

    Select your products to sell

If are selling on eBay to make quick money, then you can just sell and be done with it. But if you want to make this a worthwhile business option, then spend some time to decide which product or products to sell. Decide whether you want to sell used products or new products. Work out the costing to see if it would be beneficial for you. Don’t forget, you need to spend money to shop for the product. If you ask customers to pay for shipping, they are unlikely to co-operate. So, plan it all out before selling.

    Start the selling

Upload all your product details[ii]. Make sure you add detailed descriptions that are attractive and can compel eBay users to buy. Add clear photos with different views of the product (as may be applicable). Clarify on product warranty. Make sure you are transparent. If you don’t want quick money, but want to make selling on eBay a steady source of income, then make sure you do not hide any information. Be open and never try to pull a fast one on the customer.

    Stock up

Make sure you have sufficient stock of the product. You should not sell a product which you do not have. Also, make sure you can deliver on time to the buyer’s address. Have a tie-up with a delivery company, if you are going to sell more.

    Handle problems

In case your customer has a problem, handle it quickly. Even if you lose some money, replace or refund. One bad feedback can spoil everything. So remember that customer is King, and make sure you meet their expectations.

Selling on eBay is a worthwhile option to make money. You can explore it and reap the benefits.
