Grant &Eisenhoferadds medical malpractice litigator Charles Bletsas to growing Birth Injury Practice
Addition of Bletsas further expands G&E’s Chicago-based birth injury litigation practice
Leading plaintiffs’ law firm Grant & Eisenhofer announced today that well-known Chicago-based attorney Charles Bletsas has joined the firm’s Birth Injury Litigation practice group.
The addition of Mr. Bletsas is part of a continued trajectory of growth for G&E’s Birth Injury Litigation practice, which over the past year has obtained over $45 million in verdicts and settlements for clients in a number of confidential birth injury cases. The practice, which is headed by prominent birth injury litigator Lisa Weinstein, has quadrupled its headcount since its launch in the fall of 2014.
Mr. Bletsas, who joins the firm from Hall Prangle & Schoonveld in Chicago, has two decades’ experience in the litigation of catastrophic injury cases, and other negligence claims.
Ms. Weinstein said of Mr. Bletsas’ arrival: “Charlie adds further depth to our practice and brings with him a superb track record as a litigator. We are happy to welcome him as we continue to grow Grant &Eisenhofer’s presence in Chicago.”
G&E’s Birth Injury Litigation attorneys represent families and children who often face a lifetime of care as a result of catastrophic birth injuries arising from alleged hospital and healthcare provider negligence, such as Cerebral Palsy, HIE, Perinatal Arterial Ischemic Strokes, Erb’s Palsy and others.
Ms. Weinstein launched the practice in G&E’s Chicago office three years ago with just a paralegal and administrative assistant on staff working with her. Since that time, the practice’s headcount has grown to 12 people. Its five lawyers are: Ms. Weinstein, Carrie Vine, Edward Aucoin, Whitney Siehl, and now Mr. Bletsas. Non-attorney staff includes: five paralegals (one a labor delivery nurse/paralegal), and two additional assistants on staff (one a medical records specialist, and the other a client intake specialist).
Mr. Bletsas said, “I was drawn to Grant & Eisenhofer because of its excellent reputation representing plaintiffs generally, as well as its Birth Injury Litigation practice’s successes in representing birth injury victims, or victims who have experienced the loss of a family member during the birthing process. I’m looking forward to working with my new colleagues in Chicago.”
Mr. Bletsas received his B.A. from University of Michigan and his J.D. cum laude from Wayne State University.
