Participate, (formerly VIF International Education) a provider of leading-edge technology, comprehensive K-12 global education programs and support services for educators, announced today that it has named Dr. Todd LoFrese as Chief Business Officer. Dr. LoFrese brings nearly two decades of experience in public school systems, as well as many years in the private sector.
We are so pleased to have Todd join Participate, said David B. Young, CEO of Participate. His years of experience and proven success in public education will greatly add to our talented team, helping us extend global learning opportunities to even more students and schools.
In his new role, Dr. LoFrese will help build and strengthen relationships with current and future partners, while advising on the professional needs of teachers and principals in Participates network of 423 partner schools. He will oversee critical business operations, including finance, technology and partnerships.

Prior to joining Participate, Dr. LoFrese served as assistant superintendent for Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, where he was responsible for the leadership, oversight and operations of the districts 22 facilities, 2,000 employees and 12,000 students, including finance, facilities, technology, transportation, child nutrition and student enrollment. As assistant superintendent, Dr. LoFrese championed the creation of the districts first dual language magnet school, Frank Porter Graham Elementary Biling¼e. He also led the development of a new compensation and professional development model for teachers.
Prior to Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, Dr. LoFrese was the assistant superintendent of schools and operations director for the Watertown Board of Education in Watertown, CT. He has also held various management jobs in the private sector, including a tenure as business manager for the manufacturing and import/export company, Connecticut Trade Company, Inc.
Dr. LoFrese has a Doctorate of Education from UNC-Chapel Hill, a Masters of Business Administration from Baker College, and Bachelor of Science in Economics from Cornell University.
