-D2LT’s membership of the GLBC will support the global legal industry and its use of blockchain technology-
D2LT will support GLBC in its mission to organise and align the stakeholders in the global legal industry with respect to the use of blockchain technology to enhance the security, privacy, productivity and interoperability of the legal technology ecosystem.
First announced in August 2017 during the International Legal Technology Association annual convention, GLBC has since been gathering corporations, law firms, technology service providers to the legal industry and non-profit organisations to support its mission. One year later, the GLBC has become the largest blockchain consortium in the world, focused exclusively on the application of blockchain technology to the business of law and is preparing to hold its first annual meeting of the organisation on 19th August 2018. The meeting will bring together hundreds of senior leaders of law firms, companies, technology companies and universities who are leading the global legal industry in its development and deployment of blockchain technology.
“We are thrilled to join the GLBC and collaborate with other organisations committed to supporting the global legal industry,” explains AkberDatoo, Founder and Managing Partner, D2LT. “Our expertise in legal data and technology will enable us to support other organisations to understand the advantages of blockchain technology and the possible applications to deliver true business value. We see potential to create real world use cases surrounding blockchain. Smart contracts, in particular, could unlock significant business value across the legal sector with its ability to automate and streamline the contracting process. It will be exciting to provide our expertise and work alongside other GLBC members to develop standards to govern the use of blockchain technology in the business of law.”
“We have participated in many discussions about the use of blockchain technology within the legal industry and clearly there is still a long way to go,” adds Peter Newton, COO and Global Head of Business Origination, D2LT. “However, with the use cases we have developed we anticipate with blockchain maturity comes adoption across the whole legal sector. D2LT believes that its use cases and collaborative efforts with other members of GLBC, will result in blockchain’s widely debated potential can become a reality”.
