Biocom Builds on Bay Area Momentum, Names Regional Executive Director

Biocom, the association representing the California life science industry, today announced a pivotal Bay Area appointment: Michelle Nemits, a longtime executive in the region, will lead its recently-opened San Francisco Bay Area office.

As Regional Executive Director, Nemits will direct the effort to build a strong, well-connected life science community throughout the Bay Area, and support the associations more than 400 member companies in the region. With more than 20 years in Bay Area life sciences, Nemits will drive the associations key initiatives which focus on public policy, capital development, networking and partnering, business solutions and workforce development. Her depth and breadth of experience in sales, marketing, and business development in the Bay Area, as well as her experience as a senior executive with a local biotechnology tools startup, has fostered a broad view of the nine-county region, and the challenges and opportunities life science companies face.

At Biocom, we seek the best and brightest for the thousands of life science employees we represent across the globe. Hiring someone with deep roots in the Bay Area was absolutely essential, and Michelles proven track record and entrepreneurial approach make her an ideal fit to accomplish our goals in the region, said Biocom president and CEO Joe Panetta.

Im excited to lead Biocoms efforts in the San Francisco Bay Area. The region is a global powerhouse of life science innovation and its a privilege to be able to bring Biocoms best-in-class initiatives here to support it, said Nemits. I look forward to working with our Bay Area member companies to showcase their incredible diversity and innovation, to understand their needs, and bring resources that will enable and strengthen future growth.

With offices now in South San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Washington, DC and Tokyo, Biocom has cemented itself as the global leader in life science local cluster development. The international biotech trade association is the most experienced leader and advocate for Californias biotech sector and works on behalf of more than 1,100 member companies across the globe to drive public policy, build an enviable network of industry leaders, create access to capital, create value-driven group purchasing programs and provide workforce development and STEM education programs.
