A.M. Best will participate in InsuranceERMs Insurance Risk and Capital Bermuda conference, being held Oct. 2, 2018, at the Rosewood Bermuda in Hamilton, Bermuda.
Susan Molineux, an associate director in A.M. Bests property/casualty ratings division, will participate on a panel session at 9:30 a.m. (EDT), titled, Regulatory Panel Discussion: How Have the Latest Regulations Changed the Industry and How Can We Be Best Prepared for New Ones? The panel discussion will explore regulatory and legislative updates that took place in the past year, how they impacted the Bermuda insurance and reinsurance industries, as well as expected upcoming regulations and how well companies are prepared. Other topics the panel will discuss include the effect of the Base Erosion Anti-Abuse Tax, or BEAT tax, stemming from U.S. tax reform; expected impacts due to planned changes to Bermudas capital adequacy framework and the importance of governance and control. The panel also will include regulators from Bermuda, the United Kingdom and the United States.
The InsuranceERM event is timely as it coincides with political changes in the United States and Europe, as well as with subsequent concerns being raised over how those changes will effect the Bermuda market. To learn more about the event, please view the official agenda.
