Joining one of the nation’s premier private client groups, the three-member group brings broad experience in representing individuals and families in estate planning, tax, charitable giving, and other wealth matters

Venable LLP announced that it has added a new team to its nationally renowned wealth management practice: prominent private wealth and tax lawyer Douglas Siegler, who joins the firm as a partner in Washington, DC; counsel Carolyn P. Vinson; and associate Emily A. Plocki. Mr. Siegler and his team arrive from the firm of Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP.

An American College of Trust and Estate Counsel Fellow, Mr. Siegler represents individuals and families in sophisticated estate planning and administration and multigenerational transfers of wealth, including income, estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning. He advises clients on wills, trust agreements, insurance, and charitable giving programs, as well as tax and business succession planning advice to owners of closely held businesses. Mr. Siegler frequently handles transfer tax planning for clients married to non-U.S. citizens and people living outside the United States.

Mr. Siegler has been widely recognized for his work in the private wealth sector, with rankings in Chambers USA; Best Lawyers, Euromoney’s Guide, Washingtonian, and Super Lawyers.

Venable’s private client tax and wealth planning practice is regarded as one of the elite groups in the country. The firm has a number of top-ranked attorneys concentrating on tax, philanthropic, estate planning, succession planning, business planning, and other services for high-net-worth clients and family offices.

“Doug Siegler and his team are terrific additions to our national group – they’re first-tier private client advisors capable of serving the needs of our individual and family clients in their personal estate, tax, charitable and related financial matters,” said Venable partner Stefan Tucker, a senior member of Venable’s tax group and one of the nation’s preeminent advisors on wealth management issues.

Mr. Siegler commented on his move: “Venable has built a marquee wealth planning and private client practice – which has been well integrated into the firm’s overall platform, something I found especially important. Venable’s client base includes owners of closely held businesses and their families, who require highly attentive service and a diverse suite of legal offerings. I’m certain my practice – and, above all, my clients – will thrive under the Venable banner.”

Ms. Vinson provides sophisticated and comprehensive estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning for individuals, couples, families, and family businesses by using advanced estate planning and transfer tax techniques. Ms. Plocki assists high-net-worth individuals and owners of family entities with multigenerational tax planning strategies and wealth preservation, including lifetime, estate, charities, and business succession planning.

Mr. Siegler received his J.D. from Duke University School of Law and his B.A. from Princeton University.
