Barratt Redrow reported a 13.6% drop in half-year profits, with adjusted pre-tax profit at 199.9 million pounds due to low industry demand.
Feb 11 (Reuters) - Britain's largest homebuilder Barratt Redrow reported a 13.6% decline in first half adjusted pre-tax profit on Wednesday amid subdued demand in the industry.
Although property‑tax uncertainty dampened market demand toward the close of 2025, British homebuilders have been signaling improving buyer sentiment heading into the spring selling season, supported by steadier loan rates and clearer tax guidance following the budget.
Barratt Redrow completed 7,444 homes in the period, up 4.7% from a year earlier, and said it benefited as customers rushed to complete purchases ahead of Christmas once uncertainty around the UK government's November budget was removed.
The company reported an adjusted pre-tax profit of 199.9 million pounds ($273.24 million) for the six months ended December 28 compared to 231.4 million pounds in the prior year.
The firm said it expects full-year adjusted pre-tax profit to be within the consensus range of 558 million pounds to 617 million pounds and reaffirmed its home completions target of between 17,200 and 17,800 units.
