The US proposes a six-month deadline for Germany to resolve Rosneft's ownership issues, potentially exempting it from sanctions.
(Reuters) -Washington has floated a six-month deadline for Berlin to sort out the ownership limbo affecting the German assets of Russian oil major Rosneft, allowing Rosneft to be temporarily exempted from U.S. sanctions, Bloomberg News reported on Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The Trump administration has conveyed to German counterparts that it's considering granting a non-renewable, limited general license for Rosneft Deutschland, the report added.
Reuters could not immediately verify the report.

Rosneft is a Russian multinational oil and gas company, one of the largest in the world, involved in the exploration, production, and distribution of oil and gas.
Ownership limbo refers to a situation where the ownership of an asset or company is unclear or disputed, often due to legal or regulatory issues.
A general license in finance allows specific activities to be conducted without the need for individual approval, often used in the context of sanctions to facilitate certain transactions.
Implications of sanctions can include restricted access to markets, reduced foreign investment, and potential economic downturns for the targeted country or entity.
