Ukrainian forces have made strategic advances near Dobropillia, reclaiming significant territory from Russian control, according to the army chief.
KYIV (Reuters) -Kyiv's troops have advanced near the eastern Ukrainian town of Dobropillia, recapturing 188 square kilometers held by Russian forces as well as a further 250 square kilometers previously controlled by neither side, Ukraine's army chief said on Monday.
Oleksandr Syrskyi, who said he was in the eastern Donetsk region, said Ukrainian troops had stepped up their pressure in the Dobropillia area to force the Russian forces to divert their focus away from the key nearby city of Pokrovsk.
