Ukraine's Defence Minister requests $12B-$20B in US military aid through NATO, aiming for increased defense capabilities against Russia.
KYIV (Reuters) -Ukraine will need between $12 billion and $20 billion worth of military aid next year as part of a new NATO initiative to purchase U.S. weapons, Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal said on Wednesday.
Speaking at a defence summit in Germany, he added that Ukraine is capable of producing 10 million drones in 2026 with sufficient financing from allies, but that it also needs more long-range artillery shells as it fights Russian forces.

Military aid refers to assistance provided by one country to another in the form of weapons, equipment, training, or financial support to enhance the recipient's defense capabilities.
Long-range artillery shells are projectiles designed for use in artillery systems that can strike targets at significant distances, providing military forces with the ability to engage enemies from afar.
A defense summit is a high-level meeting where leaders and officials from various countries gather to discuss security issues, military cooperation, and defense strategies.
Military production involves the manufacturing of weapons, ammunition, and other military equipment necessary for a country's defense and military operations.
