Norway is close to settling a $3.3 billion claim with NHIndustries over NH90 helicopters, avoiding a public trial and countersuit.
PARIS/OSLO (Reuters) -Norway and leading European aerospace groups are close to a legal settlement over Oslo's $3.3 billion claim for damages from NHIndustries over the cancellation of delayed NH90 sub-hunting helicopters, people familiar with the matter said.
The settlement will avoid a rare public trial over the defence procurement as well as a countersuit by NHIndustries and owners Airbus, Leonardo and GKN Fokker for hundreds of millions of dollars, ahead of a November 10 hearing.

Compensation refers to the payment or remuneration awarded to someone for loss, injury, or suffering. In legal contexts, it often involves financial restitution for damages incurred.
Financial claims are demands for payment or compensation based on a legal right. They can arise from contracts, torts, or other legal obligations and are often pursued in court.
Sub-hunting helicopters are specialized aircraft designed for anti-submarine warfare. They are equipped with technology to detect and engage submarines, enhancing naval capabilities.
