City of London Group plc (COLG) can announce that Mark Bampton has been appointed Managing Director of Property & Funding Solutions Ltd (PFS), which is a recently launched business providing commercial bridging, refurbishment and development loans. PFS is a wholly owned subsidiary of City of London Group plc.

PFS aims to provide bridging and development finance for commercial customers and there is a market opportunity to fill the gap left by a sharp reduction in lending capacity in recent years.

The business’s objectives are:

  • To originate bridging and short term property-backed secured lending solutions in the UK that are competitive on terms, features and price.
  • To lend predominantly against good quality commercial and residential property in England and Wales.
  • To be the specialist lender of choice amongst the prominent brokers and attract repeat business from key industry intermediaries.

Mark has over 30 years SME/commercial lending and credit expertise building an extensive network of business and professional relationships over this period. He has held a range of senior executive roles within Nationwide Building Society’s Commercial Division leading business development, loan execution and loan management teams across a wide spectrum of commercial lending.

He was most recently the former National Head of Commercial Property Finance at Nationwide Building Society with overall responsibility for new lending and management of the commercial property loan book. He has a track record as an innovator, business creator and leader of growing businesses across lending, insurance and deposit products and success has been underpinned by the importance of developing strong business relationships and delivering what you say you will on time.

Michael Goldstein, CEO of COLG, said “I am delighted that Mark has come on board to lead PFS, he has a wealth of experience in the SME and commercial lending space and will be a huge asset for the company. The objective is very much to build enduring business relationships by getting to know clients, understanding their needs and tailoring the right funding solutions for them in a timely and reliable fashion. Mark has displayed a track record of integrity and unwavering energy, which links in perfectly with the ethos of PFS, a company that evolves with its clients and nurtures its business relationships by building trust with a responsive and simple model.”

Mark Bampton, Managing Director of PFS, said: “It is clear that many businesses are frustrated by lenders who still have cumbersome and outdated systems, with an impersonal service that doesn’t cater to the needs of their customers. We will be offering something different. By working with PFS, you will have access to our senior decision makers and the support needed to finance your growth.”
