Lufthansa Group is adding extra long‑haul flights—such as Munich‑Singapore, Frankfurt‑Cape Town, Frankfurt‑Riyadh and Vienna‑Bangkok—to meet surging demand as Gulf transit hubs remain closed due to the Iran war, prompting passengers to reroute via Europe or Africa.
BERLIN, March 10 (Reuters) - Airline group Lufthansa is offering extra flights to Asia and Africa in the coming weeks due to high demand, it said on Tuesday.
Among the routes served by additional flights are Munich-Singapore, Frankfurt-Cape Town and Frankfurt-Riyadh, Lufthansa said.
"Austrian Airlines has already set up 10 special flights from Vienna to Bangkok and back," the group added in a statement.
Lufthansa pointed to a "rise in demand for long-haul flights at short notice."
