Kongsberg Gruppen plans to spin off its non-military unit, Kongsberg Maritime, in an IPO on the Oslo Bourse by April 2026, creating two independent entities.
OSLO (Reuters) -Norwegian defence contractor Kongsberg Gruppen said on Thursday it plans to spin off its non-military business Kongsberg Maritime in an initial public offering on the Oslo Bourse.
The spin-off will create two focused and independent companies, each positioned to seize global growth opportunities within their respective markets, Kongsberg Gruppen said in a statement.
It said it expects the demerger and separate listing of Kongsberg Maritime to take place in April of 2026.

An IPO, or Initial Public Offering, is the process through which a private company offers its shares to the public for the first time, allowing it to raise capital from public investors.
A spin-off is a corporate action where a company creates a new independent company by selling or distributing new shares. This often allows both companies to focus on their core operations.
Kongsberg Gruppen is a Norwegian defense contractor that specializes in technology and systems for various sectors, including maritime, aerospace, and defense industries.
The Oslo Bourse is the main stock exchange in Norway, where shares of publicly traded companies are bought and sold. It plays a crucial role in the Norwegian financial market.
Growth opportunities refer to potential avenues for a company to expand its business, increase revenue, or enhance its market position, often through new products, markets, or technologies.
