ROME, April 9 (Reuters) - Italy proposed to appoint Lorenzo Mariani as the new chief executive of defence group Leonardo, replacing Roberto Cingolani, the Treasury said in a statement on Thursday, confirming an earlier Reuters report.
Rome also proposed reappointing Claudio Descalzi and Flavio Cattaneo at the helm of energy groups Eni and Enel, respectively.

Lorenzo Mariani has been proposed as the new chief executive of Leonardo, replacing Roberto Cingolani.
Claudio Descalzi is being reappointed as the CEO of Italian energy group Eni.
Italy also reappointed Flavio Cattaneo at the helm of energy group Enel.
Lorenzo Mariani replaced Roberto Cingolani as Leonardo CEO.
The announcement was made in Rome via a statement from the Treasury.
