How to Submit a Guest Post?
The very first thing you have to do to submit a guest post is to define your niche. I suggest that you define it before you even attempt to write the post or submit it to a directory. What are you writing about? What kind of visitors are you aiming to attract? For example, are you writing about pet care for dogs? Or are you writing about how to build a solar panel?
Once you know what you want to write about, you need to start thinking about who you are trying to attract. This is usually easier when you already have an existing site that may be giving you more traffic than you are currently receiving. If you have a site that is doing well, but you are not getting many visitors, and therefore not getting much backlinks, then you might want to consider guest posting on a site that would benefit from some high PR backlinks.
You also need to do some research. Find out what the competition is doing. If you already have an established site that gets a good amount of traffic, then you know what works and what doesn’t. Find out which article directories give good page rank and which ones don’t. A good SEO consultant can tell you this information, and if you do not have someone who knows what they are doing, then it is time to hire a writer.
If you are not yet established, but have had an article on the web for a while, then you need to submit a guest post to a directory in order to establish yourself. The article needs to have good content that is optimized well for search engines. The author bio section needs to entice the reader to click on the link. The title should also get the reader’s attention, as that is where the link will lead them to.
Once you have done these things, you need to tackle the article. Backlinking is simply putting another site link in your resource box at the bottom of an article. The better you write the article, the more links you can put. It is best to write articles that are related or at least easily readable by the reader. This way, you are more likely to get a click through to your site through the backlink.
Now that you have the article backlinked and posted to several directories, you need to drive traffic to the post. You can do this by using PPC or Pay Per Click advertisements on social networking sites. There are also affiliate programs that allow you to put banners on other sites free of charge. You may be able to track this traffic, and then use it to advertise your site. There are also banner exchanges that you can take advantage of with other webmasters. You will need to check with the directory that allows you to post your guest blog post before you begin to advertise your site.
You want the traffic coming to your site so that you can keep posting and get more clicks through. It is important that the traffic you get to your site grows slowly but steadily. That way, when you submit a post to a directory, the site does not feel like you are blasting them with a lot of free advertising. A lot of people who work on online marketing make the mistake of thinking that they have to blast out as many posts as possible in order to draw in as much traffic as possible. This is a bad habit to get into, because if the traffic is too low, you might not get many page views.
When you submit a guest post to directories, be sure that you follow their guidelines. Some will not accept your posts unless they are unique. Others will not publish posts that do not follow their guidelines. Remember, there are hundreds of directories, and some will reject your post if it does not follow their posting guidelines. Make sure to follow the guidelines of each directory that you submit to, so that your posts are approved.
