French President Macron supports the FCAS fighter jet project, a collaboration between France, Germany, and Spain, emphasizing its importance for European defense.
BERLIN (Reuters) -French President Emmanuel Macron said on Tuesday he believed in the project of a future Franco-German fighter jet FCAS.
"We have an obligation to succeed," he said during a joint press conference in Berlin with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, adding it was normal for the process to be complicated as it groups in a common project companies who are used to compete against each other.
"Our interest is to carry out our common projects," he said. "It is our test of credibility."
The project, which also includes Spain, aims to develop next generation fighter jets and related systems for European forces.

The FCAS programme, or Future Combat Air System, is a collaborative project involving France, Germany, and Spain aimed at developing next-generation fighter jets and related systems for European military forces.
A fighter jet is a military aircraft designed primarily for air-to-air combat against other aircraft. They are equipped with advanced technology for speed, agility, and weaponry.
Project management involves planning, executing, and overseeing projects to achieve specific goals within a defined timeline and budget. It includes coordinating resources and managing risks.
