Germany's VDA launches a temporary platform to mitigate chip shortages, allowing manufacturers to anonymously offer semiconductor capacities with antitrust clearance.
BERLIN (Reuters) -Germany's automotive industry association VDA plans to set up a temporary information platform via a neutral third party to help manufacturers and suppliers avoid the negative consequences of a possible chip shortage, it said on Thursday.
The platform will enable companies to anonymously offer available Nexperia semiconductor capacities, with negotiations handled outside the exchange, and has received clearance from the German antitrust authority, VDA said.

Supply chain management involves overseeing and managing the flow of goods, information, and finances as products move from supplier to manufacturer to wholesaler to retailer to consumer.
A chip shortage refers to a supply crisis where the demand for semiconductor chips exceeds the available supply, impacting various industries, particularly automotive and electronics.
