Volkswagen and FAW are recalling 206,012 Audi Q2L SUVs in China due to potential panel detachment caused by adhesive deterioration under high temperature and humidity.
BEIJING, Feb 6 (Reuters) - Volkswagen's joint venture with Chinese state-owned FAW will recall 206,012 units of the Audi Q2L produced in China between August 2018 and January 2025 over the risk of car body panels coming loose, China's market regulator said on Friday.
Adhesives applied to bond the affected units' C-pillar outer panels could deteriorate under "long-term high temperature and humidity conditions", the State Administration for Market Regulation said in a statement.
Panels could detach from the car during drives "in extreme cases", which poses a threat to others on the road, it said.

A vehicle recall is a request from a manufacturer to return a vehicle to the dealership for repairs due to safety or compliance issues.
Car body panels are the exterior parts of a vehicle that form its structure and shape, including doors, hoods, and fenders.
Adhesive deterioration refers to the weakening or failure of bonding agents used to attach components, which can lead to parts detaching.
Safety implications of a vehicle recall can include risks of accidents or injuries due to malfunctioning parts that may affect vehicle performance.
