A typical day in my current role as a private investor and leadership advisor is markedly different from my previous life as a practicing dentist and CEO. My schedule used to be dictated by external demands—specific patient appointments and strategic organizational priorities. Transitioning into investing shifted my focus from execution to discovery, a transition that demanded a more observant and reflective approach.
For instance, I may spend a day exploring markets or trends, often without a strict agenda, to understand how different companies operate. This kind of engagement helps me stay attuned to emerging opportunities. As a leadership advisor, my approach is more technical, focusing on maintaining a consistent schedule with those I mentor to ensure their growth and development stay on track.
With your work now spanning mentorship, finance, and personal branding, how do you stay informed about emerging opportunities and trends in these diverse spaces?
Staying informed requires an ongoing commitment to engaging with information in real time, as markets and trends evolve rapidly. I rely on multiple information pipelines, such as insights from industry professionals actively working in the field, interviews with operators who handle day-to-day activities, and curated content from specialized media channels. This approach ensures I remain ahead of the curve, as traditional media often lags behind.

Throughout my life, setbacks have not only been inevitable but essential. They provide feedback on one's direction and approach, often acting as blessings in disguise. For me, setbacks have always been about learning and growth. I've observed that those who achieve extraordinary success approach setbacks with humility, curiosity, resilience, and perseverance. These experiences strengthen one's ability to adapt and continue forward without losing momentum. It's a mindset that has been pivotal to my personal and professional development.
Looking back, what was the most difficult or unfulfilling job you ever had—and how did that experience shape the way you lead and advise others today?
In my youth, I held a variety of challenging jobs, none of which I found unfulfilling. Each role, irrespective of its nature, offered valuable learning opportunities. The key, I believe, is one's attitude towards such roles. Rather than letting the environment dictate your attitude, it's more empowering to shape your own perspective. This belief in proactive attitude management has fueled my approach to leadership and advising, allowing me to influence and lead effectively.

It's incredibly difficult to grow and lead effectively in isolation. I've deliberately surrounded myself with individuals who are smarter, stronger, and more capable across every dimension of life. They serve as my board of directors, including my family and subject matter experts in areas like fitness, spirituality, and professional development. These trusted individuals provide constant feedback and guidance. They must possess strengths that surpass your own because their exceptional talents should be viewed as a powerful asset, not a threat.
What advice would you give to someone in mid-career trying to redefine their professional identity or create a purpose-driven legacy, as you have done?
Recognize that opportunity is abundant and you have the power to recreate any life you desire. I recommend taking a week away from all distractions for deep reflection. During this time, engage in an exercise I call The 30 Reps—write down 30 deeply meaningful things to you. The first 10 will come easily, the next 10 will challenge you, and the final 10 will stretch you deeply. This practice helps reconnect you with your core values, laying the foundation for a purpose-driven life and legacy.
When considering a new venture, what is your starting point for turning an idea into reality?
The starting point is thorough research. I listen to subject matter experts, conduct initial online searches to gather relevant materials, and dive deeper into interviews and books related to the opportunity. This layered approach helps me gain a comprehensive understanding before making decisions. It’s a disciplined starting point grounded in curiosity and due diligence.
