Denmark Detains Iran-Flagged Container Ship on Registration Issues

Detention and Registration Concerns in Danish Waters

COPENHAGEN, Feb 19 (Reuters) - The Danish maritime authority said on Thursday it has detained a container vessel anchored in the Nordic country's waters on the grounds that it was not properly registered.

    Ship Identity and Flag History

The container vessel is currently named 'Nora' and sails under the Iranian flag, LSEG data showed.

The ship was initially sailing under the flag of Comoros, but the Comoros informed Denmark that the vessel was not found in its registry, the Danish authority told Reuters by email.

    Authority Actions and Inspection Plan

"The ship is detained until a flag state can demonstrate to the Danish maritime authority that it is registered and fully certified," the authority said, adding it would conduct a port state inspection of the vessel before it could be released.

    Inspection Timing Subject to Weather

"The inspection will be conducted when weather conditions make it safe to do so," it added.
