ContractorFinancials was founded by Tony Harris in 2002 to serve the need for independent financial advice tailored to the unique needs of freelancers.  The company has grown to a team of 51 advisers and support staff and has now helped over 18,500 clients to achieve their financial goals. In the process the firm has become one the UK’s largest mortgage brokers using specially negotiated income underwriting based on annualised gross contract.

ContractorFinancials offers a full financial review service to its clients and in addition to its mortgage arm the firm has a wealth of experience in helping contractors to maximise the tax benefits associated with pension investment.

The company also has an award winning protection team who can help clients with life cover, income protection, critical illness insurance and private medical insurance.  Unlike traditional IFA’s the advisers invariably manage the entire advice process via phone, email, Skype and post to save busy clients time and hassle. 98.5% of clients say they would recommend ContractorFinancials to a friend.

ContractorFinancials works alongside many contractor and freelance specific service providers and also boasts strong relationships with a number of the UK’s large financial institutions, notably:

    • ContractorFinancials worked alongside Bright Grey to launch Relevant Life insurance in 2009.  This innovative product allows contractors to arrange life insurance through their limited company and tax efficiently pay premiums as a business expense with no tax suffered by beneficiaries on receipt of any pay-out.
    • The firm negotiated an exclusive gross contract-based income protection policy which helps clients protect more of their earnings if they are unable to work due to illness or accident.
    • Tony Harris negotiated the original gross contract-based mortgage underwriting over a decade ago and has since championed this approach with many of the major high street lenders and smaller regional building societies such as the Halifax, Clydesdale bank, Newbury and Saffron building societies.
    • ContractorFinancials successfully negotiated with Halifax to extend its contract-based underwriting to cover any professional contractor or freelancer where previously this lending had been limited to IT contractors.  This was a huge breakthrough and has helped thousands more contractors and freelancers onto the property ladder.  Halifax has since rolled this scheme out to other brokers so that many more contractors and freelancers are set to benefit.

Key Services include mortgages, protection, pensions and an active wealth management service.
