WorldQuant Launched Inaugural Women Who Quant Competition in Collaboration with Women 2.0, Women Who Code and 100 Women in Finance

WorldQuant, the global quantitative asset management firm, announced that it launched Women Who Quant, an international online competition and learning opportunity designed with the goal of increasing the participation of, and opportunities for, women in quantitative finance. The competition will run through March 10, 2019, and was developed in collaboration with Women 2.0, Women Who Code and 100 Women in Finance.

We are seeking to further empower women quants and provide increased access to educational and professional opportunities around the world. We are excited to partner with leading organizations focused on advancing women in technology, finance and data science, said Igor Tulchinsky, Founder, Chairman and CEO of WorldQuant.

Participants will test their skills building algorithms (alphas) on WorldQuants online market simulation platform, called WebSim, and expand their quantitative finance knowledge through live and recorded skill-building sessions. Competitors will be eligible to win cash prizes (or cash equivalent), and the top scorer will have the ability to select one of WorldQuants event partners to receive an additional donation from the company. Participants who perform well in the Women Who Quant competition may also be considered for opportunities to join WorldQuants global team of research consultants or to apply for full-time employment or internship positions.

Participants can register for the competition through March 5, 2019 by clicking here. WorldQuant will donate $1 for each registrant, up to $30,000 total, to be distributed evenly across the three event partner organizations.

“Exposing talented women around the world to new opportunities for learning and advancement can have a big impact on diversity in areas such as quantitative finance. These types of collaborations “ with companies like WorldQuant that already offer flexible opportunities to their global workforce “ engage communities of women in a powerful way, furthering their interests and participation in this field,” said Kate Brodock, CEO of Women 2.0.

Initiatives such as this competition being held by WorldQuant can be vital contributors to increasing engagement with, and expanding access to, growing areas of technology. We are excited to offer this opportunity to our community and see more women excelling in fintech, said Alaina Percival, CEO and Board Chair of Women Who Code.

We are delighted to collaborate with WorldQuant, especially given its alignment with 100 Women in Finances initiative to invest in the next generation. We look forward to seeing women around the world demonstrate their skills and use the resources offered through this competition, said Amanda Pullinger, CEO of 100 Women in Finance.
