Poseidon Water CEO Carlos Riva today issued a statement in response to Governor Gavin Newsoms State of the State Address.
Governor Gavin Newsom today called for a fresh approach when it comes to meeting Californias massive water challenges. We couldnt agree more. Californians are experiencing climate change “ most notably through drought and wildfires that have impacted thousands up and down our great state, said Riva. We must act now to ensure access to reliable water for our future generations. Seawater desalination is independent of climate and weather patterns and accessible today. The Carlsbad Desalination Facility is the largest and most technologically advanced, energy efficient and environmentally sound desalination plant in the Western Hemisphere. In three years, the facility has provided San Diego County homes with more than 43 billion gallons of fresh drinking water. We have an opportunity now to do the same in Orange County with the Huntington Beach Desalination Facility. We look forward to securing our final permit approvals this year and creating a climate change resilient water supply for Orange County residents for years to come.
