Dietrich residents told not to drink water amid contamination scare

Fearing that the waters of the public service are contaminated, the authorities of Dietrich, ordered the residents not to consume the vital liquid, after a state employee committed suicide with gas nitrogen .

The man, identified as Tom Young, 62, was found dead last Thursday by emergency services workers, who were referred to a hospital after entering the home of the deceased, reported AP.

Rene Rodriguez, sheriff of Lincoln County, said that the aforementioned gas intoxicated seven employees who prepared to provide first aid and the officer himself, who were discharged hours later.

Young had been fired on May 9 from his job in the municipality, after an altercation at City Hall, said Dietrich Mayor Don Heiken, who declined to provide details of the incident. He said there is concern that Young has contaminated the well that provides water to the community, which is home to some 300 people. However, he said there was no previous threat.
