    Andrew Lawrence Greystoke

Andrew Lawrence Greystoke, a UK solicitor and New York attorney, has had a long and distinguished career in corporate governance. Having held leadership positions at over 30 companies, Greystoke has solidified his position as one of the most experienced international business managers in the world today.

Though Greystoke no longer practices law, he serves as a Director at Pantheon International Advisors Limited, where he advises emerging companies to support their domestic and international growth.

Apart from advising businesses, Andrew Lawrence Greystoke has always taken the time to mentor the next generation of lawyers, which he still does proudly and successfully today.

Over the years, mentoring has become a passion of Greystoke’s. He has helped train dozens of lawyers, many of whom have gone on to take senior positions at law firms and major companies.

    A Longstanding Passion for Mentorship

Andrew Lawrence Greystoke’s commitment to mentorship stems from his belief that education is the backbone of society. He has taught law at the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Cambridge, and the University of London.

Greystoke’s passion for mentorship started early in his career, partially due to his gratitude for the mentors in his life. Over the years, he has dedicated himself to guiding dozens of lawyers through their early careers, helping them achieve their goals and find fulfilling positions.

Greystoke understands that mentorship is not just about sharing knowledge. It’s also about helping people identify their passions and achieve true satisfaction in their lives. Greystoke has been fortunate enough to love every minute of his 60+ year career in law and corporate governance, and he knows that success should not be measured in accolades and goalposts.

By sharing his experience and insights, Greystoke has been able to give back to the legal community in a meaningful way. His mentorship has helped shape his mentees’ careers, and it’s had a positive impact on the international law firms, investment banks, and other major companies they’ve gone on to work for.

    Guiding Future Legal Minds

Throughout his career, Andrew Lawrence Greystoke has personally trained and mentored more than two dozen lawyers. His approach to mentorship is hands-on and sometimes intense, as Greystoke knows the hard work it takes to identify your true strengths in today’s business environment.

He often works with his mentees for years, emphasizing both technical aspects of law and the importance of ethics, integrity, and professional conduct.

Greystoke also takes the opportunity to write about his experiences in the hopes that others can learn and grow.

He takes great pride in the achievements of those he has guided. Today, many occupy leadership positions at companies and law firms around the world.

“They all uphold the high professional ethical and moral standards that they learned from me,” he said.

Even at age 82, Greystoke continues to mentor multiple young lawyers. Among those he has recently trained, three have recently qualified in the UK.

Greystoke looks back fondly on one particularly memorable mentee, a young woman from Slovakia named Veronika, who worked for Greystoke as a receptionist. She expressed her desire to become a lawyer, and Greystoke’s support led to her becoming one of the best commercial lawyers he knows today.

Now practicing as in-house counsel for a major life sciences company, Veronika’s story is just one of many that start with Greystoke extending a helping hand.

Andrew Lawrence Greystoke Fondly Remembers His Mentors

At age 82, Andrew Lawrence Greystoke reflects on the many lawyers he has mentored. But he also looks fondly back at the legal and business experts who influenced him and helped shape his professional journey.

One of the first was Lord Slynn, one of England’s most distinguished judges. Greystoke was his pupil in the Inns of Court. The lessons he learned under Lord Slynn’s guidance have stayed with him throughout his career.

Another key figure in Greystoke’s life was Governor Harold Stassen, the former governor of Minnesota and a prominent political figure in the United States. Greystoke worked for Stassen during a summer while at Harvard, during which time he learned valuable lessons about leadership and politics.

He recalls the best advice he got from Stassen: “He taught me to tip before service—not after!”

This forward-thinking approach to generosity and trust in business transactions helped define Greystoke’s philosophy on corporate ethics.

Jim Slater, a genius in the world of finance, also had a significant influence on Greystoke. Working as a Senior Vice President for Slater Walker of America in the late 1960s, Greystoke witnessed firsthand Slater’s attention to detail and ability to maintain a clear vision of the big picture. This big-picture mentality stayed with Greystoke and formed much of the basis of his strategic thinking in business and law.

Slater was also incredibly loyal to his staff, and in turn, they helped him design monumental business movements that are still talked about today.

“Jim Slater was a genius,” Greystoke recalls. “He was totally loyal to his colleagues, who were totally loyal to him.”

Greystoke always admired Slater’s ability to motivate and inspire, and he emulates those lessons today as a mentor and Director of Pantheon International Advisors.

    A Lifetime of Giving Back

Greystoke’s career is typically marked by his professional achievements. However, he takes greater pride in his longstanding dedication to giving back to his community and mentoring his colleagues, which he considers the true measure of his success.

According to Andrew Lawrence Greystoke, Pantheon International Advisors is a platform where he can continue his legacy as an advisor. As Director, he can guide emerging businesses as they grow from small businesses to large corporations.

He has made it a priority to train young lawyers in his free time, but this is just one of the many ways he gives back. Greystoke is heavily involved in philanthropy, particularly in the arts and various charitable organizations.

Greystoke and his family have been strong supporters of music and the arts and have contributed to a range of Jewish charities. His giving reflects his belief in the importance of community, education, and cultural enrichment.

Greystoke’s approach to mentoring and philanthropy is driven by a simple belief: when something fortunate happens to you, you should seek to share that fortune with your community.

Greystoke considers himself incredibly fortunate for the mentors he had earlier in life. Today, he is never without at least one mentee of his own, and he takes great pride in the success of those he has mentored.

He also enjoys opera and theater, which he regularly attends to this day. So he makes it a point to give back to these organizations so others can enjoy them for years to come.

In his own words, Greystoke defines success as “the ability to wake up in the morning looking forward to a full day of professional challenge and personal fulfillment.”

There is no better way to describe Greystoke’s career and his lifelong commitment to mentorship.

As he reflects on over 60 years of service, Andrew Lawrence Greystoke remains as dedicated as ever to inspiring and guiding others. Even at 82, he’s actively spreading the values and lessons he holds dear to help others thrive.
