Airbus tells airlines that A320 recall repairs may be less burdensome, with fewer jets needing extensive hardware changes than initially estimated.
PARIS, Nov 29 (Reuters) - Airbus is telling airlines that emergency repairs to some of the A320 jets affected by a major recall may be less burdensome than first thought, industry sources said on Saturday.
Although some 6,000 jets remain impacted overall, a sub-set of jets needing a time-consuming hardware change rather than a quick software fix is smaller than the initial estimates of 1,000, they said.
Airbus had no immediate comment.

A recall in aviation refers to the process of retrieving aircraft from service due to safety concerns or defects, requiring repairs or modifications to ensure compliance with safety standards.
A hardware change in aircraft involves replacing or upgrading physical components of the aircraft, such as engines or structural parts, rather than just updating software systems.
A software fix in aviation refers to updates or patches applied to the aircraft's software systems to resolve issues or enhance functionality without changing physical components.
