Feb 6 (Reuters) - A consortium that includes the Australian units of Spanish firms Acciona and ACS won a 5.75 billion Australian dollar ($4 billion) contract for rail construction works on a major railway connecting Logan and the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, Acciona said on Friday.
The contract was awarded to the ActivUs consortium, which includes Acciona, ACS's CPB Contractors and UGL, as well as SMEC and WSP.
The project aims to meet high demand for travel between Brisbane and the Gold Coast ahead of the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games, Acciona said in a statement, adding that the works are projected to start in the first half of 2026.
A spokesperson for Acciona declined to clarify the size of the stake it holds in the consortium.
