EU's von der Leyen emphasizes a need for a concrete tariff solution before visiting the White House, following positive talks with President Trump.
BRUSSELS (Reuters) - European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Friday she would only go to the White House for "a solution" on trade tariffs, reacting to a question related to President Donald Trump having called her Thursday a "fantastic person".
"I think I had a good conversation with President Trump, on the phone and at the funeral of the pope but (...) if I go to the White House, I want to have a package we can discuss. So it has to be concrete and I want to have a solution that we both agree on," she said during a press conference.
