EU's Sefcovic foresees trade talks with the US after new tariffs. EU aims to reengage with China to balance trade relations.
LUXEMBOURG (Reuters) - EU trade commissioner Maros Sefcovic said on Monday the European Union and the United States would end up reaching an agreement on trade after U.S. President Donald Trump announced last week a sweeping round of tariffs for most imported goods.
"Sooner or later, we will sit at the negotiation table with the U.S. and find a mutually acceptable compromise," he told reporters.
In view of the shift initiated by the U.S., Sefcovic said it was time for the EU to "reengage" in trade talks with China.
