German FM Annalena Baerbock condemns the expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza, citing international law, in response to Trump's resettlement plan.
BERLIN (Reuters) - German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said on Wednesday that the Gaza Strip belongs to Palestinians, and their expulsion would be unacceptable and contrary to international law.
"It would also lead to new suffering and new hatred," said Baerbock in a statement, adding: "There must be no solution over the heads of the Palestinians."
Baerbock's comments come a day after President Donald Trump unveiled a surprise plan for the United States to take over the war-ravaged Gaza Strip and develop it economically after Palestinians are resettled elsewhere.
