EU's Dombrovskis met with US Treasury's Bessent to discuss tariffs, aiming for a mutually agreeable solution. EU warns of countermeasures if talks fail.
BRUSSELS (Reuters) -The European Union's economy commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis said on Friday he had held a 'cordial and candid' meeting with United States Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and reiterated the EU wanted a mutually agreeable deal regarding U.S. tariffs.
"We compared notes on the impact of U.S. tariffs. The EU is willing to reach mutually agreeable solution," Dombrovskis wrote on X.
Dombrovskis has been in Washington for International Monetary Fund and World Bank spring meetings. He reaffirmed this week that the EU would respond with countermeasures if the tariff talks did not lead to a solution.
