Five killed in Ukrainian strike on Kursk shopping centre. Russia reports new gains in the region.
MOSCOW (Reuters) - Five people were killed in a Ukrainian strike on Monday on a shopping centre in a village of Russia's Kursk region, local governor Alexander Khinshtein said on Tuesday.
Khinshtein had previously said three people were killed and nine wounded in the village of Belaya.
On Tuesday Russia said that its troops had made major new gains in its western region of Kursk, accelerating their push to drive out Ukrainian forces who have been clinging on to a slice of Russian territory since last August.
