German Chancellor Merz indicates no meeting between Putin and Zelenskiy. He and Macron discuss economic collaboration and European de-bureaucratisation.
FRANKFURT (Reuters) -German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Thursday that it seems clear there will be no meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, during a statement alongside French President Emmanuel Macron.
Macron welcomed Merz for a working dinner at Bregancon Fort in southern France, where the leaders gave a statement to the press before their meeting.
Merz said he and Macron will hold bilateral discussions on several topics, including economic collaboration between the two countries, the situation between Ukraine and Russia, and the de-bureaucratisation of Europe.
