UK house prices rose by 0.3% in April, according to Halifax, defying a predicted 0.1% fall. Annual prices increased by 3.2%, exceeding expectations.
LONDON (Reuters) -British house prices rose unexpectedly in April, figures from mortgage lender Halifax showed on Thursday.
Halifax said house prices rose by 0.3% in April after a 0.5% fall in March. A Reuters poll of economists had pointed to a fall of 0.1% for April.
House prices were 3.2% higher on the year - higher than the 2.6% rise forecast in the poll.
