Italy's Treasury and Asterion have filed a 700 million euro bid for Telecom Italia's subsea unit Sparkle to boost their fiber network.

ROME (Reuters) -A consortium led by the Italian economy ministry has filed a 700 million euro ($733 million) binding offer for Telecom Italia's (TIM) submarine cable unit Sparkle, the ministry said on Thursday.
The ministry is bidding with Retelit, an Italian fibre network operator owned by Spanish infrastructure fund Asterion.
($1 = 0.9548 euros)
