Metropolitan Anthony of the Russian Orthodox Church will meet Pope Leo at the Vatican this Saturday, amid tensions over the Ukraine conflict.
MOSCOW (Reuters) -Metropolitan Anthony, a senior cleric in the Russian Orthodox Church, was quoted by state news agency RIA as saying he would meet Pope Leo on Saturday.
The agency added, citing a source, that the meeting will take place in the Vatican.
Relations between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Vatican have come under strain because of the war in Ukraine. Anthony is the chairman of the church's department of external church relations.
