Russia may prolong its gasoline export ban into October to prioritize domestic demand amid shortages caused by Ukrainian strikes.
MOSCOW (Reuters) -Russian authorities may prolong the gasoline export ban for oil producers into October, Russian state-run news agency RIA reported on Thursday, citing Vitaly Korolev, deputy head of the country's anti-monopoly watchdog FAS.
Korolev said all options remained on the table, but stressed that meeting domestic demand was the government's top priority.
Last week, the Russian government extended a ban on gasoline exports until September 30.
Russia has been facing gasoline shortages in some regions following a series of Ukrainian strikes on oil refineries at a time of high seasonal demand for fuel from farmers and motorists.
