A UK High Court ruling halts the removal of an Eritrean asylum seeker to France, challenging the UK-France returns deal.
LONDON (Reuters) -An asylum seeker who arrived in Britain on a small boat cannot be removed to France pending a full legal challenge, London's High Court ruled on Tuesday, in a setback to the British government's plan to return such migrants.
The 25-year-old Eritrean man, who arrived in Britain on Aug. 12, won an interim injunction that prevented his removal to France on Wednesday morning under a "one in, one out" pilot scheme announced by Britain and France in July.

An asylum seeker is an individual who flees their home country and seeks protection in another country, often due to persecution or fear for their safety.
A legal challenge refers to a formal objection or dispute brought before a court, often questioning the legality of a decision or action taken by authorities.
A pilot scheme is a small-scale trial or test of a new idea or program, conducted to evaluate its feasibility, effectiveness, and potential for wider implementation.
The High Court is a senior court in the UK that deals with serious civil cases and appeals from lower courts, often addressing significant legal issues.
