    BEIJING (Reuters) - China has appointed Lu Shaye, former Chinese ambassador to France, as Beijing's special representative for European affairs, the Chinese foreign ministry said on Thursday.

    Lu will assist in communication and coordination with the European side, promote dialogue and cooperation, and contribute to the stable and healthy development of China-EU relations, ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun told a press briefing.
