Seyfarth Shaw LLP announced the arrival of partners Doug Mancino and Ofer Lion to the firm’s corporate department in Los Angeles. They join from Hunton & Williams LLP, where Mancino served as co-head of the firm’s health care practice.

With more than 40 years of experience, Mancino is recognized as one of the country’s top health care and tax-exempt organization lawyers. He has represented all types of health care and nonprofit organizations on tax, business and financial matters. He has extensive experience in audit, appeals and tax controversy issues. Notably, Mancino has also served as counsel to health care clients in a number of cases that have defined the limits of tax-exempt organizations participating in health care joint ventures. He is resident in Seyfarth’s Los Angeles – Century City office.

Mancino has authored more than 85 articles and book chapters concerning tax-exempt organizations and health care issues. He is a former president of the American Health Lawyers Association and previously served as vice chair of publications for the ABA’s Tax Section. He received his BA from Kent State University and his JD from the Ohio State University, Moritz College of Law.

Lion has been regularly quoted as a tax-exempt organizations authority by a variety of national media, including NPR, Associated Press, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, among others. He received his BA from Pennsylvania State University and his JD from UCLA School of Law.

Mancino and Lion are joined by associate Christian G. Canas, also from Hunton & Williams, whose practice focuses on tax-exempt organizations and nonprofits, including health care organizations, public charities and private foundations. He received his BA from Columbia University and his JD from the UCLA School of Law.
