SAILPOINT RELEASES LATEST VERSION OF DATA ACCESS GOVERNANCE SOLUTION
SecurityIQ Streamlines Compliance with the EU’s new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
SailPoint, the global leader in identity and access management (IAM), today unveiled the latest version of SecurityIQTM, SailPoint’s solution that provides an integrated and comprehensive approach to governing all data in the enterprise. SecurityIQ has seen considerable traction with existing and new SailPoint customers who recognise the need to manage access to unstructured data stored in files throughout the organisation as part of their identity governance strategy.
Enterprises have more data to protect than ever before. In addition to managing their information stored in structured applications and systems with SailPoint’s market-leading open identity platform, IdentityIQTM, they can manage the unstructured data that exists in many different formats and locations with SecurityIQ. With this complexity comes new challenges to both controlling and governing access to this type of data. For example, the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requires material changes in how and where organisations store customer data, and more importantly how they grant access to that data to employees, contractors and business partners. By putting identity and data governance at the core of their security strategy, organisations can better mitigate the risk of a data breach and the resulting penalties that may occur.
According to Gartner, from the recently-published Magic Quadrant for Identity Governance and Administration (IGA), “Customers are realising that application and data access are closely related, which is driving interest in integration of IGA with DAG products for more mature organisations.” The report goes on to say that “By 2020, 50% of enterprises with identity governance and administration (IGA) deployments will have invested in data access governance (DAG) for tighter data access control, up from less than 10% today.”
“The growing amount of unstructured data poses a serious risk for organisations,” said Paul Trulove, vice president of product management at SailPoint. “Given the volume of data that exists across file servers, email, cloud storage services and SharePoint sites, visibility is increasingly becoming a significant challenge. With SecurityIQ, particularly when coupled with SailPoint’s industry-leading identity governance solutions, organisations can now manage access to all data through a common set of tools and processes. Having a unified approach to securing access to sensitive data, whether it resides in applications or in files, or on-premises or in the cloud, is a critical component of managing risk and complying with global regulatory requirements.”
SecurityIQ simplifies the ongoing challenge of managing how access is granted to unstructured data throughout a user’s lifecycle within the organisation. It is a business-oriented data access governance solution that helps organisations find and protect sensitive unstructured data, enabling them to meet regulatory requirements by providing proof of compliance during audits; and increases staff productivity by reducing time spent on diagnostics, forensics, and data administration tasks.
SecurityIQ works seamlessly with SailPoint’s identity governance solutions to discover sensitive data throughout the enterprise and control access to it. It also includes patent-pending collaboration technology for identifying data owners which results in superior oversight and reduces risk of inappropriate access to sensitive data.
