DODDLE GOES MOBILE WITH ‘CLICK AND COLLECT’ APP DESIGNED BY MONITISE

New Monitise Create iOS app for Doddle, the first of its kind new parcel service, set to revolutionise sending and receiving deliveries

Doddle

Doddle, the new ‘click and collect’ parcel service, has launched an iOS mobile app designed and developed by Monitise Create, a division of leading Mobile Money provider Monitise Group plc. The app makes it even easier for customers to collect, send and return parcels from Doddle’s shops, conveniently located in and around train stations.

Today sees the beginning of Doddle’s consumer launch and publicity programme ahead of ‘Black Friday’ (November 28) and Christmas. With registrations to Doddle’s website already experiencing double digit weekly growth, the mobile service is expected to reach six figure sign-ups in less than three months.

The new app allows customers to sign up and create Doddle accounts quickly and easily, on their commute. Customers collecting parcels being delivered to Doddle will then have notifications sent directly to their phones, including a collection code or barcode, which can be scanned directly in-store to collect the delivery. For customers sending or returning parcels, the app allows them to track the whereabouts of their delivery, for added convenience and peace of mind.

Doddle’s 20 shops are located in and around train stations to provide busy customers with an easy way to send, collect and return parcels anywhere. Shops are open seven days a week, early until late, so customers can choose exactly how, when and where they send and receive deliveries. Doddle has also partnered with a number of retailers to offer customers free returns for goods bought online.

Commenting on the app’s launch, Paddy Earnshaw, Chief Customer Officer, Doddle said: “Buying things online has never been easier, but the hassle of having to wait around to pick up missed deliveries and queue again for returns is time-consuming and inconvenient. What Doddle does is to remove the only awkward part of online shopping; our app is another way to help fit into consumers’ lives and make their lives easier.”

Alistair Crane, Monitise President, Content, added: “Doddle is one of the most exciting things to happen to not just deliveries, but the retail industry as a whole, in a long time – it’s a rewiring of how delivery systems work that puts the consumer at the centre. Putting mobile the heart of the service shows just how focused on the consumer they are. This is just the beginning – we’re very excited to be on this journey with them, doing for deliveries what Uber did for taxis.”

Doddle, a joint venture between Network Rail and entrepreneur Lloyd Dorfman, was announced in December 2013 and opened its first store at London Waterloo in September this year. It plans to have opened 300 stores within the next three years at locations across the country, creating 3,000 jobs.
